The Mary Cross Jazz Quartet/Quintet delivers sophisticated, soulful jazz rooted in the Great American Songbook, classic soul and timeless standards. Led by contralto vocalist Mary Cross, the ensemble brings elegance emotional depth and musical excellence to jazz clubs. Known for polished performances and audience connection, the group is ideal for upscale venues, listening rooms theatres, and curated jazz experiences.

Mission
The mission of the Mary Cross Quartet (MCQ) and Mary Cross Quintet is to elevate live music experiences by creating an atmosphere of elegance, warmth, and joy—where great music enhances dining, celebration, and connection.

Founded by vocalist Mary Cross, MCQ was created to meet the growing demand for high-quality acoustic jazz and small ensemble performances when a full 10-piece band is not required. The quartet expands to a quintet when a horn player or guitarist is requested, allowing flexibility while maintaining musical excellence.

MCQ specializes in reading the room and setting the tone, seamlessly blending vocals and instrumentals across styles—from the Great American Songbook to contemporary jazz and soul.

Repertoire includes music by Melissa Manchester, Captain & Tennille, Norah Jones, Amy Winehouse, Lizz Wright, Patti Austin, and beyond—alongside classic jazz standards, R&B, soul, and nostalgic favorites.
